Security Applications of Deep Fakes 1:

(by Eike Scholz)

Just a quickie for modern AI applications. Deep Faking of pictures is a wonderful tool to change photos of contact persons in a way, so that an available agent is a lookalike, that, with a little professional makeup, can pose as a double. Very useful for espionage and sabotage. All that is required is to be in a man in the middle position.

Further, civil infrastructure is usually not hardened against attacks and since most military has civil subsystems, this attack will also alow to infiltrate or sabotage military institutions. For example by blocking reports and results from the private and civil sector.

In principle, that would work without deep fakes too, but not that fast and it can not be automated that easy.

This kind of attack is also one of the reasons, why demanding weak civil infrastructure for crime investigation is a very naive security policy. What your intelligence service or the police can hack, can be hacked by the enemy too. If the enemy does not yet have the capabilities to do so, he just needs one lucky strike with a spy operation to acquire the required capabilities.

In conclusion security personal, that proposes weak civil infrastructure is likely either incompetent or working for an adversary.
